Rescuers are sorting through the rubble after a gas explosion in the capital’s 16-story building, residents are taking things from the surviving apartments.
The second day has passed since the fatal gas leak in the capital’s high-rise apartment building. As a result of the explosion, three people died and five were hospitalized. On Friday, June 23, rescuers were still sorting through the rubble and sending residents to collect things from the surviving apartments. However, it was not without conflicts. While some residents of the building calmly waited for their turn, someone got into a verbal altercation with the law enforcement officers, and then fists even started.
How did everything end and what does the scene of the tragedy look like now, the story says TSN.
On the second day, rescuers dismantle the debris. What were once windows and walls now hang and sway in the wind. All this must be cleaned so that the remains of the structures do not fall on someone’s head.
The residents were evicted yesterday, and now they were waiting for an opportunity to go inside. However, there is a nuance. This house has only one entrance. Currently, people are allowed to pick up things only in the left part of it, on the right – where the explosion happened – rescuers are working.
After all, there is almost nothing to take away. Some apartments in this part of the building burned to the ground, others were flooded with water during extinguishing.
The houses from the 6th to the 8th floor were the most affected. In some places, pieces of concrete hang from the ceiling. To prevent the entire structure from completely collapsing, rescuers installed special supports.
In the extreme 4-room apartment, there is no ceiling at all, just like there is no floor. It was in its ruins that people’s bodies were found the day before. Rescuers say that now it is difficult to understand exactly where the epicenter of the explosion was, because there are similar destructions on several floors at once.
The apartments in the building are located in a corridor type, most likely – there was an explosion somewhere in the corner apartments and the explosive wave, breaking into the common corridors, went deep into the building almost completely. On the way, it pushed in the doors to neighboring apartments and even lifted the elevator doors.
Those residents, whose apartment was relatively unscathed, accompanied by rescuers and law enforcement officers, are sent to pick up things in turn. People are in a hurry to pick up their clothes, wipe the water from the floor.
Some were flooded with equipment, some with furniture, and some with documents. The hosts will not return home soon. They remove things that can spoil. Then the houses are locked with a key and a list of damaged items is compiled under the record of the law enforcement officers.
Residents leave their homes with suitcases and suitcases, some take pets.
In the queue to enter the house, it did not pass without a fight. Psychologists are unable to calm down the nervous residents. People throw their fists at law enforcement officers, some woman hits police officers, a man with obvious signs of stress bites a law enforcement officer on the elbow. For attacking a policeman, he is still detained and taken out of the house – by his arms and legs.
In the crowd, the coward is condemned and, at the same time, pitied. Their history is not simple: emigrants from Mariupol first went to Zaporizhzhia, and then to Kyiv.
When people take their belongings, the law enforcement officers will close the house for examination. It is not known how long it will last. Specialists must establish: whether the structure of the house is subject to further operation and whether its structure can be restored.
