A batch of Turkish tomatoes infected with tomato moth was brought to Odesa

This moth can cause significant damage.

During the inspection of a batch of tomatoes imported from Turkey, specialists of the State Production and Consumer Service found the South American tomato moth alive.

In a shipment weighing almost 22 tons from Turkey, a quarantine organism, which is limited in Ukraine, was discovered – the South American tomato moth (Tuta absoluta Meyr), live caterpillars.

The South American tomato moth belongs to the List of regulated harmful organisms A-2 (Quarantine organisms of limited distribution in Ukraine). This is a type of harmful organism that, in case of introduction or limited distribution in the territory of Ukraine, can cause significant damage to plants and plant products.
