Because of their 25-year age difference, people think the couple are grandmother and granddaughter.

In the USA, a teacher got engaged to her former student.

56-year-old Michelle Foster is in a relationship with 31-year-old Monica Ketchum.

She taught her science at school in 2004. Ketchum was in seventh grade at the time.

Monica said she decided to contact her favorite teacher through Facebook about 16 years after she left the classroom. The women met to have lunch together and became close friends.

Michelle has dated women in the past and Monica came out as a lesbian when they met in 2021. They ended their previous relationship to be together in May 2022.

The situation took a serious turn in September, when Monica came out to Michelle.

Since then, the couple has been living together. They are currently planning a June 2023 wedding.

Ketchum admitted that because of their 25-year age difference, people think that the beloved is her mother or grandmother.

“I’ve always been attracted to older people. People always ask if she’s my mum – I even recently made a t-shirt that said ‘No she’s not my mum’. I’m trying to let it go but it really hurts – age doesn’t matter to us , so why does it matter to other people?” – she said.

Despite the fact that people do not understand their relationship, the couple talked about themselves on social networks. They explained that they wanted to “be open in a community that needs a voice” – both because they are LGBT and because of the age difference.

“We can love anyone,” the lovers added.
