6 years passed without Aybüke Teacher

Çorumlu Şenay Aybüke Yalçın graduated from Konya Necmettin Erbakan University Music Teaching Department after receiving music education at Edremit Culture and Art Association.

Yalçın, who started to work as a music teacher at Kozluk Multi-Program Anatolian High School, to which he was appointed, and got his master’s degree from the Music Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Batman University, set a throne in the hearts of both his colleagues and students in a short period of 7 months.

Aybüke teacher left school with her friends to go home on June 9, 2017, after giving her students their report cards.

Yalçın, who was seriously injured by the bullet that hit the vehicle he was in, in the attack carried out by PKK terrorists against the vehicle of Veysi Işık, the Mayor of Kozluk at the time, could not be saved despite the intervention at Kozluk State Hospital.

The funeral of Yalçın, who was martyred in his first place of duty, was sent off to his hometown in tears with a ceremony held in the garden of Batman Teacher’s House. Aybüke teacher’s body was buried after the ceremony in Osmancık district of her hometown Çorum.

The reaction to terrorism has grown like an avalanche

The terrorist organization PKK, which detached Aybüke teacher from life in the prime of her life and profession, has been cursed all over the country.

The death of teacher Aybüke, who was remembered with the Famagusta Harbor folk song and her smile in her photograph, shocked the whole country, especially her mother Zehra, father Sadık, and brother Atıf Yalçın.

Citizens in Kozluk reacted to the terrorist organization PKK with a march for martyred teachers. Under the leadership of the District Directorate of National Education, citizens gathered in front of the July 15 Martyrs Park, holding Turkish flags and marching to the school where the martyr teacher was working, with the slogans “Turks are Kurdish brothers, the PKK is treacherous”, “Down with the PKK”, “Martyrs do not die, the homeland is indivisible”.

After the march, supported by the Turkish Red Crescent Batman Branch with a 200-meter-long Turkish flag, the citizens gathered in the school garden and prayed for Yalçın. The music group of the District Directorate of National Education also recited poems about the martyr teacher.

Aybüke teacher’s name is kept alive

The memory of Aybüke teacher is kept alive in schools, libraries, art workshops, parks and streets with events organized in her memory.

The name of the martyr teacher was given to the music workshop he first worked for and opened with his own means, and then to Kozluk Multi-Program Anatolian High School.

The name of Aybüke teacher was given to the Körfez Anatolian High School, which he graduated from, the Hospital Street where the attack took place, and the orchestra hall of Necmettin Erbakan University, where he graduated.

In addition, his name is kept alive in a secondary school in Osmancık, a guesthouse in Kozluk, the school library in Bozbulut village of Muş, the painting workshop of a high school in Pozantı, and the overpass in Safranbolu.

On the other hand, Yalçın’s name was given to a class at Batman University, where he started his master’s degree. A public library named after the martyr teacher Şenay Aybüke Yalçın was opened in Yayla District by Keçiören Municipality last year.

In his memory, a table tennis tournament was held in 2017 and a Turkish folk music solo voice competition in 2018.

Şenay Aybüke Yalçın, who was cut off from life by terror while aiming to become an academic, is commemorated at her grave, at the place where the attack took place, at the school where she worked every year on 9 June and 24 November Teachers’ Day.

Oil is produced in the well named Gabar, which was cleared of terrorism.

Work continues on the well, which has a daily oil production capacity of 100 thousand barrels, named after Aybüke teacher and discovered on Gabar Mountain, which was cleared of terrorism in Şırnak.

In order to determine the boundaries of the Martyr Aybüke Yalçın-1 (ŞAY-1) well and 41 API gravity oil exploration and the current production of 1250 barrels per day, many detection and location studies of production wells have been completed in the ŞAY Oil Field.

In this context, drilling activities that started in the Şehit Aybüke Yalçın-2 well, 1.5 kilometers northeast of the ŞAY-1 well, continue.

Terrorist attack in which teacher Aybüke was martyred

Music teacher Şenay Aybüke Yalçın, who went to her home after the report card distribution ceremony, was seriously injured in the attack carried out by PKK terrorists against the vehicle of the then Mayor Veysi Işık on June 9, 2017 in the Kozluk district of Batman.

The terrorist in the vehicle, which was trying to be stopped by the security forces, who moved away from the region and practiced in front of the Bekirhan Gendarmerie Station, did not obey the “stop” warning and exploded the vehicle, 2 soldiers were killed and a citizen was injured.

In the examination, it was determined that the terrorist codenamed “Agit”, one of the three terrorists of Iranian nationality, who was neutralized in the operation carried out against the terrorist organization PKK by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams on 22 March 2018 in the Sason district of Batman, prepared the bomb assembly used in the attack in which the teacher Aybüke was martyred.

During the hearing at the Batman 3rd High Criminal Court, the five defendants, who were held in pre-trial detention, were sentenced to 18 years in prison for “supplying weapons to a terrorist organization”.
