The number of users without a family doctor in the district of Bragança doubled in the first quarter of this year. Currently, there are 9713 citizens who are uncovered in the 14 health centers, according to data from the Transparency Portal. Six doctors retired in December and have yet to be replaced.
In the municipality of Bragança alone, where the problem is more serious, 6800 people do not have a clinic. “It is about 20% of the population of the municipality of Bragança that does not have a family doctor”, criticized the mayor, Hernâni Dias, also mentioning that the shortage could be filled with the hiring of at least four new professionals.
