“On Father’s Day, we all lost a second father. Today we lost a little bit of the man who marked our lives”. The emotional testimony of Vítor Gonçalves, a Delta Cafés worker who, for 40 years, lived with Rui Nabeiro on a daily basis, mirrors the feeling shared by all Campo Maior residents at the time of the departure of the noblest son of the land.
In the four decades that he has worked for Delta Cafés, Vítor Gonçalves confesses to being “deeply sad” at the death of the businessman, but underlines the “great happiness of having lived and shared many moments. With Mr. Rui, I lived through good and bad times at the company and in life”, concludes.
For his part, Luís Rosinha, mayor of Campo Maior, who decreed five days of mourning, speaks of “a high in the life of Campo Maior and the people of Campo Maior. consensus of Portugal”.
The mayor maintains that, “more than the businessman, we lost a humanist, a man present in the homes of all Campo Maior residents”. Luís Rosinha recalls that they will have to continue his legacy, “in the way he used to do things, because life in Campo Maior will always be marked by the figure of Senhor Rui”.
