The adaptation made by Varazim Teatro of “Os bichos”, by Miguel Torga, will be represented in the auditorium of Cine-Teatro Garrett, in Póvoa de Varzim, already on Wednesday and Thursday, in a total of four shows.
The high point of Miguel Torga’s vast literary production, “Os bichos” continues to reach new generations. Through new editions of the book, originally published in 1940, but also through other artistic representations.
In 2020, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the death of the author from Trás-os-Montes, Varazim Teatro put forward an adaptation of “Os bichos”, which can be seen tomorrow and Thursday – in two daily sessions, at 10.30 am and 2.30 pm – at Cine-Teatro Garrett, after having already passed through Almada, Mondim de Basto, Ponte de Lima or Coimbra during that period.
With staging and dramaturgy by José Caldas, this theatrical version of Torgu’s famous text follows the affinities between the two genres of “animals”, animals and humans, demonstrating that, against all contrary views, we all inhabit the same Noah’s Ark and, like such, we must respect our fellow men.
Or were we not all, after all, “brothers in an equal struggle for life and freedom”.
