″Descentrar″ takes cultural events to 16 parishes in Braga

The Municipality of Braga will continue, throughout 2023, the “Descentrar” program, to take 30 cultural events to 16 parishes in the municipality.

The cultural programme, which starts on the 11th of February and runs until the 9th of December, has as a novelty the carrying out of walks on pedestrian trails, in an invitation to discover the cultural and natural heritage of the municipality.

In a statement, the Municipality points out that “the program brings together new circus and theater shows, concerts by emerging artists in the Portuguese music scene, classical and classical music, and fado, as well as workshops, guided tours, trails pedestrians and photography exhibitions.

For the mayor, Ricardo Rio, “Descentrar” is a very important initiative for fulfilling the objectives of the Municipality’s cultural policy: “In Braga, the logic of cultural decentralization has undergone a major transformation over the last few years. This program is increasingly eclectic and has been growing from year to year, with more Parish Councils and cultural agents available to enter into partnerships with the Municipality, with a view to valuing our cultural and natural heritage”, said the Mayor in the presentation of the program , which took place today, Tuesday, at the Parish Council of Gondizalves.

And the mayor also stated: “With the “Decentering”, we want to make our territory known and use Culture as a vehicle to bring the population closer together. As a cultural decentralization project, it follows the purpose of cultural democracy, through artistic practices with a high potential for transformation, whether of the territories through the reinforcement of notoriety, or physical and human, through the qualitative transformation of the visitors’ experience or the reinvention of the narratives associated with each place. “

He also underlined that all cultural initiatives in the “Descentrar” program are free to enter, limited to the capacity of the spaces in which they take place.

The first day of “Descentrar” takes place on Saturday, February 11th, in the auditorium of the União das Freguesias de Ferreiros e Gondizalves, with the theater show “L”Ventosa”, by Malad”arte , at 4 pm, and the concert “British Music for Strings”, by the Braga Philharmonic Orchestra, at 5 pm, at the Igreja de Ferreiros.
