Acclaimed filmmaker Spike Lee is currently working on an English-language reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s crime thriller “High And Low”, with lead actors Denzel Washington and Jeffrey Wright spotted filming a scene in New York City. The 25th feature film in Lee’s career, “High And Low” marks the fifth collaboration between Lee and Washington, with previous projects including “Inside Man” and “Malcolm X”. The film follows a businessman’s downfall after paying a ransom to kidnappers, based on the novel “King’s Ransom” by Ed McBain.

Washington, dressed in a blue suit, was seen getting out of a car holding a large brown envelope, displaying a big smile as he addressed someone in the car. Wright, on the other hand, was captured in action on the streets wearing a black sweatsuit. The busy day of shooting included scenes of the actors interacting with a blue and silver car parked on the street. Lee, dressed in a distinctive blue jacket and New York Knicks cap, was also present directing the action with specific shots in mind.

Lee made sure to finish shooting in time to catch a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, where he and Washington were pictured flashing a ‘five’ sign to signify their fifth collaboration. The film is expected to have a theatrical release before heading to Apple TV+. Along with Washington and Wright, the cast includes Ilfenesh Hadera and Ice Spice. Production of the film is being handled by Todd Black for Escape Artists and Jason Berman for Mandalay Pictures, with Lee serving as an executive producer.

Washington and Wright were immersed in their roles, with Washington’s character seen getting into the car in one scene and emerging from it with a different demeanor in another. Wright’s scene involved him stepping out of the driver’s seat of the same car, showcasing his versatility as an actor. As production continued, Lee’s presence on set ensured that the vision for the film was being executed as planned, with attention to detail and specific shots.

The anticipation for “High And Low” continues to build as fans eagerly await its release date in theaters and subsequent debut on Apple TV+. The film promises to be a thrilling reinterpretation of the original Kurosawa classic, with Lee’s unique perspective and Washington and Wright’s talent shining through. With a stellar cast and a seasoned director at the helm, “High And Low” is set to be a must-watch film that will captivate audiences with its compelling narrative and powerful performances.
